Please see the following update from Neighborhood Watch Coordinator Skip Hickey.
Aloha All,
The scam is still going on...that's the bad news. The good news is lots and lots of people in the village are aware and on the look-out for these characters. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you that have reported on sightings of these guys including locations and descriptions of the "salesmen." Brenda Ford, Hawaii County Council District 6, reported in an email that the "salesmen" are working the Kealakehe neighborhoods. So we are not alone. Remember, "Together We Can Make a Difference." We need to help facilitate an up-close and personal talk story between these scam salesmen and Hawaii County's finest...the boys and girls in blue. If we can get a license plate number or get lucky and have the police nearby when we sight them; the police can find out who these guys are, where they come from, and what they are up to.

Keep up the good work. You are doing an outstanding job!

Aloha All,
I just received an e-mail warning of SCAMS going on in the area. People are knocking on the door wanting to sell cleaning products or wash windows, etc. Once they get into the house they check out what's good to steal (presumably). They will ask to use your phone...splitting your attention so they can better "case the joint." Apparently they have been in east Hawaii island and have moved to the west side.
DON'T LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!!!!!
Be polite and just say no, you don't need their services. Then call the police non-emergency line 808-935-3311 and report them. Let the police investigate and see if they are legitimate.
As always, stay alert and be safe,
Skip Hickey
